The Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre supports projects of varying complexity and size, offering services in Programme and Project Management, Planning, Cost Engineering, Risk Management, and Commercial Disciplines. We cover the full project lifecycle, from pre-contract to post-contract, managing infrastructure projects valued from hundreds of thousands to over £200M.

We are expanding our team to support our Defence client portfolio and are seeking talented individuals eager to develop their careers on complex and challenging projects.

Job Description

Note: Due to the sensitive nature of these projects, applicants must be SOLE UK Nationals eligible for UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC clearance is preferred but not mandatory. If you believe you are a suitable candidate, please apply.

We are looking for Project Controls professionals, particularly Project Controls Managers with Defence sector experience, to join our team delivering infrastructure projects in the North West. The role involves leading the programme controls function, ensuring accuracy and consistency in plans, costs, safety, environmental, and performance reporting, and managing resources effectively.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing project proposals and developing realistic, resource-aware plans for project delivery.
  • Identifying and coordinating resourcing requirements with planning teams.
  • Providing daily support to Programme and Project Managers on plans, costs, safety, and performance.
  • Ensuring data quality standards are met in cost and performance systems.
  • Managing the production of Investment Plans and adhering to the Investment Competence Framework.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a relevant degree or equivalent experience, membership in a professional body such as APM or PMI, and the ability to make risk-based decisions amid uncertainty. Strong leadership, stakeholder management skills, and proficiency with relevant software are essential.

Working in Teams/Site Attendance:

We support flexible working arrangements, with expected site or office presence around 60%, depending on project needs. Collaboration and learning are key benefits of onsite work.

Security Clearance

Applicants must be UK Nationals eligible for SC clearance. Many projects are subject to MoD restrictions, affecting eligibility based on nationality or residency. More details are available at GOV.UK.
