Job Title: Design Manager

Location: Hybrid working – Falmer, UK (possibility to work out of Chichester or Chatham)

Employment Type: Full-time – 40hrs

Overview: Our client is looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead the design delivery of capital non-infrastructure projects within the water and wastewater sector. This role is responsible for coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ensuring high-quality design outputs, and serving as the primary technical point of contact for the client.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead engineering design for assigned projects from definition to delivery.
2. Manage stakeholder engagement and act as the client’s main design contact.
3. Oversee design assurance, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
4. Coordinate with consultants, suppliers, and construction teams to integrate design solutions.
5. Promote sustainable, innovative approaches to engineering challenges.
6. Develop project plans including scope, cost, schedule, risk, and resources.
7. Support the delivery of outcomes aligned with programme milestones.
8. Mentor and develop team members in a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Requirements:

1. Chartered Engineer with a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
2. Strong technical background in water/wastewater treatment design and delivery.
3. Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
5. Familiarity with CDM regulations and quality management in design.
6. Valid UK driving license.
