Job Title: NEC Supervisor – Highways

Location: Aylesbury Start Date: ASAP Duration: Minimum 6 Months Working Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) Pay Rate: 50 p/h

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced NEC Supervisor to support the delivery of a major infrastructure scheme in Aylesbury. The role involves ensuring contractor compliance with the Specification under an NEC contract framework, focusing on quality assurance, defect resolution, and on-site supervision. You will be the key site-based representative ensuring that works are delivered to the required standard and specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as NEC Supervisor under NEC4 ECC.

  • Oversee the Contractor’s adherence to contract testing and certification requirements.

  • Monitor and inspect on-site operations (plant, labour, gangs, weather, etc.).

  • Organise and inspect works before they are covered.

  • Identify and record defective works; manage closure of defects within agreed timescales.

  • Support the Project Manager with defect management and H&S reporting.

  • Raise safety concerns and non-compliance issues as appropriate.

  • Attend site and project meetings as required.

  • Ensure proper documentation and daily record-keeping using site systems and software (e.g. CEMAR).

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience in highways and infrastructure projects, ideally including bridges.

  • Demonstrable experience as NEC Supervisor or similar supervisory role.

  • Strong working knowledge of the MCHW – Specification for Highway Works.

  • Valid UK Driving Licence.

  • Valid CSCS Card.

  • Proven ability to attend and work on-site full-time.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NEC4 ECC Supervisor Accreditation.

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).

  • Experience using CEMAR for defect recording and contract administration.

Competencies & Behaviours

  • Strong technical and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with contractors and project teams.

  • Proactive and confident in raising quality and safety issues.

  • Strong team player, capable of supporting a collaborative contract administration team.

  • Excellent record-keeping skills (including app-based systems).

  • Well-organised with attention to detail and the ability to manage and prioritise multiple site activities.
