Senior Quantity Surveyor – 400 per day – 12-Month Contract – Manchester – High-Rise Residential

Your new role Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a flagship high-rise project in Manchester, valued at 100 million. This is a 12-month freelance contract, offering 400 per day, with a strong likelihood of extension based on project pipeline and performance. You’ll play a key role in the commercial delivery of a major residential scheme, working closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful financial management of the build.
Responsibilities will include:
Leading all commercial aspects of the 100m high-rise development from inception through to final account
Managing subcontractor procurement, contract negotiation, and package awards
Overseeing cost reporting, forecasting, and change management processes
Managing monthly valuations, variations, and payment applications
Identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving measures
Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff
Liaising with project teams, design consultants, and client representatives
Ensuring contractual compliance and maintaining accurate project records
What you will need to succeed:
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale residential or high-rise projects
Strong working knowledge of JCT contract forms
Excellent commercial acumen and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple workstreams under tight deadlines
Effective communication and negotiation skills
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
Availability to start within the next 2-4 weeks
